Sexton to Play WSOP Big One for One Drop

“The Big One for One Drop is the most highly anticipated poker event in history and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” said the Party Poker pro.

One of the most recognizable names in poker Sexton has been the main host of the World Poker Tour since its inception in 2002.

He’s widely regarded as one of the best ambassadors for poker in the history of the game.

No slouch at playing either, Sexton has earned over $4.2 million in tournament winnings.

Sexton is also no stranger to stacked fields as he successfully navigated through one of the toughest fields ever assembled in the 2006 Tournament of Champions where he eventually beat Daniel Negreanu heads-up to win $1 million.

Sexton Hopeful Millions Will Be Donated to One Drop

The 64 year old was quick to point out a big part of the reason he plans on playing the tournament is that charity One Drop could potentially receive $5 million from the event.

“I'm hopeful that millions more will be donated from viewers as a result of the media exposure for this tournament, which will be far and away the most for any poker tournament ever,” he said.

“All poker players, whether or not they're participating in this tournament, should be thankful to Guy Laliberté for organizing this event and proud that the poker community is doing so much for ONE DROP.”

Sexton is not the only played who has declared their intention to play the Big One this week.

Tom Marchese recently mentioned on the WSOP livestream he plans to play the massive competition. David “Doc” Sands, Ben Lamb and Jean-Robert Bellande are also among the unofficially confirmed combatants in the event.

The Big One for One Drop will take place in less than three weeks time on July 1 at the Rio in Las Vegas. The event is capped at 48 players and there are 42 officially confirmed players for the tournament. If Sexton, Bellande, Marchese, Lamb and Sands play they are already at 46.
