Field outlasted 2,799 players before finally losing a coin flip with king-jack to Jamie Armstrong’s pair of nines to bust in ninth for $32,748.
The California resident gained considerable notoriety in the poker world for using more than one account while playing online tournaments on Party Poker when he was just 16 years old.
Using more than one account is strictly against the rules so Field’s account was frozen by Party Poker and he was banned from the site. Later he was also banned from PokerStars.
Field went on the TwoPlusTwo poker forum and apologized for multi-accounting, saying he would never multi-account again and wouldn’t play online until he was 18.
Unfortunately for Field, PokerStars went one step further and extended the ban to include live tournaments when Field tried to enter the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure when he turned 18.
Field was able to play at the Aussie Millions that year, however, and he earned over $20k in the tournament series.
In late 2008 Field made yet another apology, this time apologizing for failing at past apologies, implying he had once again multi-accounted.
Field is hardly the only player to have been caught multi-accounting as Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi and Dan “jungleman12” Cates have all admitted to playing more than one account in the past.
Since 2008 Field has had mixed results at live poker but did finish in second place in a €5,000 No-Limit Hold’em side event at EPT Monte Carlo in 2009 for $189k.
Today marked his first WSOP cash and his first major final table.
The 22-year-old Field politely declined our request for an interview, saying he was too focused on the tournament.
