Von Altizer added yet another fantastic performance by a female player at the 2012 WSOP while Randy Ohel and Benjamin Lazer went on to show their endurance in an epic heads-up match.
Finally the embattled Brad Booth recorded his first cash at this year’s WSOP.

3) Randy Ohel Wins Swingy Heads-Up Match
It wasn’t quite the astounding nine+ hour heads-up match that Warwick Mirzikinian and Aubin Cazals played earlier this summer but Randy Ohel and Benjamin Lazer certainly gave it their best effort tonight in the $2.5k 2-7 Triple Draw tournament today.
A total of nine players entered the tournament and it barely took five hours to get down to the final two.
Big-name pros Josh Arieh, Layne Flack and Shawn Buchanan all hit the rail in relatively short order.
Even David Baker, who busted third, lasted for slightly less than five hours.
It turned out that was just a warm-up for Ohel and Lazer as the pair would play for nearly six more hours before Ohel finally pulled away for the win.
Ohel entered heads-up with a 12-4 chip lead over Lazer but that wasn’t an issue for Lazer as he quickly battled back and took the chip lead.
The pair would than trade the lead back and forth seven times before Ohel put the nail in Lazer's coffin.
Ohel picked up for the $145,247 for the victory while Lazer had to settle for $89,714 for second place.
2) Booth Records Min-Cash, Payback Begins?
Brad Booth, who recently admitted to the poker community he has some gambling problems when he was unable to pay back Doug "WGCRider" Polk, took the first step to paying back some of the people he owes money by picking up a min-cash in the $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em.
The Canadian finished in 73rd place to pick up $5,927 for his efforts.
Booth stated in his video apology that at the end of the summer he wants to publically give 75% of his whatever he makes (Booth has 50% of himself at the WSOP) to past debt.
It’s a good start for Booth although we have to wonder if it’s the best idea for someone with a gambling problem to be living in Las Vegas for the next five weeks.
Booth was definitely not the only know player to make a deep run in the $3k 6-Max as Daniel Alaei, Gavin Smith, Todd Terry Jason Senti and Liv Boeree all made it into the top 50 of the tournament before busting.
The $3k 6-Man No-Limit Hold'em event plays to a winner tomorrow with Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Freddy Deeb, Scott Montgomery and Andrew Lichtenberger all still in contention for a bracelet.
1) Altizer Keeps Female Run Alive at 2012 WSOP
Von Altizer became the latest female poker player to achieve a noteworthy finish on Tuesday.
Altizer entered the final day of the $2.5k 2-7 Triple Draw event second to last in chips with nine players left but managed to hold on long enough to come in seventh place, missing out on the final table by one place.
For her efforts in the contest Altizer picked up $14,725.
Interestingly the Californian only has one other cash at the WSOP and it came in the same event back in 2008. In that year Altizer came in 21st place for $5,474 so apparently she’s getting better. Perhaps next year she’ll lock up a spot at the final table.
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore the amazing run that women have had at the 2012 WSOP with eight women finishing in the top nine in separate tournaments.
Unfortunately the open-bracelet drought for female players continues and it’s now been over four years since Vanessa Selbst won her bracelet in a $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event.
