Today on the 3-Bet we feature Phil Hellmuth recalling his old army days, tournament monster Chad “lilholdem954” Batista making a final table in Atlantic City plus the Twitter-savvy Erik Seidel getting bumped from the Global Poker Index’s top 20 for the first time ever.
Hellmuth Salutes the Troops, Disrespects Kenny Rogers
In April of 2011 a group of professional poker players including Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Howard Lederer and Annie Duke visited Camp Buehring, Kuwait with the USO.
That was just one month before Black Friday brought federal indictments against the online poker rooms that Lederer and Duke represented.
It seems Hellmuth is reliving those glory days by dressing up in the Camp Buehring schwag he brought home.
We also dug up this video that’s so far only been seen by 720 people on YouTube (Thank god).
Hellmuth acts as MC for the Kuwaiti final table and drags a group of innocent bystanders into a brutal rendition of Kenny Roger’s “The Gambler”.
Annie Duke spends the video dealing cards and rolling her eyes.
Chad Batista’s (Semi) Triumphant Return to Poker
Chad “lilholdem” Batista hit Atlantic City for the first time in his life this week, and played the biggest buy-in event we've seen him at in a year.
Despite rumors that Batista had quit poker, he has posted a few small results including cashing in a few WSOP Circuit side events.
The return paid off as the online MTT legend finshed sixth for almost $60k.
It was a tough final table that included EPT Grand Final runner-up Matt Woodward and staking godfather Cliff Josephy.
The event is currently three-handed. Get live coverage from the Borgata's blog here.

Seidel Bumped from GPI Top 20
Since the Global Poker Index was introduced a handful of players have had a stranglehold on the top spots but it seems like Erik Seidel has become a victim of his own success.
Only four results per six-month time period count, and with two Epic Poker League final tables, a $100k WPT Super High-Roller win and a 21st in the WSOPE main event Seidel’s 12th place finish in the WSOP Europe €10k Mixed No-Limit Hold’em event is no longer eligible.
And with no results counting towards his Period 1 (the most recent six months) Seidel falls out of the top 20 for the first time since the Index was created.
In other news Liv Boeree was among the nine players who fell entirely off the GPI. It's a sad day.
