Wright was stacking players left and right throughout all of Day 3 and amassed a total of 2.4 million by the end of play.
The Englishman has a few relatively small cashes on the GUKPT but has been running hot lately with a 13th place at the Irish Open for $20,000.
Close behind Wright is the Czech Republic’s Tomas Cibak with 2.3 million chips while Canadian Andrew Chen is a distant third with 1.8 million chips.
Interestingly former American Spelling Bee champion Pratyush Buddiga is in the top 10 chip counts with 1.1 million.
Former EPT Copenhagen winner Wigg had an up and down day but finished with 973,000 chips.
Meanwhile MacPhee, who won EPT Berlin in 2010, finished with 430,000 chips and still has to be considered a threat despite his lack of chips.
EPT Snowfest winner Vladimir Geshkenbein is still in the running as well with one million chips.
Three-time WSOP final table finisher Davidi Kitai also has 946,000 and will see the light of Day 4.
Here were the top 10 chip counts at the end of play:
1. Marc Wright - 2,400,0002. Thomas Cibak - 2,311,0003. Andrew Chen - 1,827,0004. Florian Dohnert - 1,270,0005. Jordi Riba Corrons - 1,265,0006. Andreas Vlachos - 1,140,0007. Selbst, Molson, Thorson all Hit the Rail
It wasn’t a great day for everyone as a total of 78 eliminations took place over the course of the day.
Among the big name players to fall were Team PokerStars Pros Vanessa Selbst, Jan Heitmann and Ana Marquez in addition to Will Molson, William Thorson, JP Kelly, Joe Ebanks, Martin Jacobson and Koen de Visscher were all eliminated.
Kelly was primed to make a big run but couldn’t fade a flash draw against Andrey Zaichenko in a 600,000 pot.
Molson also lost a heart-breaking coin flip with pocket queens versus an opponent’s ace-king.
The Canadian flopped a set but his opponent rivered a straight to bust him from play.
It’s getting down to the nitty gritty at EPT Berlin and tomorrow they will play from 24 down to a final table of eight.
Play resumes at noon tomorrow in Berlin.
