One of the most impressive online poker players of all time dropped a few more jaws earlier tonight with a dominating finish to win the PokerStars SCOOP $10k Main Event title and $1.1 million.
All Eyes on Blom
Coming into the final day second in chips with 74 players remaining all eyes were on Blom from the start and he more than lived up to expectations.
Dropping back slightly to fourth by the final table, Blom managed to bust out Sergio "zcedrik" Aido in fifth to get in position for heads-up play with Dutch pro Noah "Exclusive" Boeken.
Entering heads-up down 3-1 Blom put on an absolute clinic against Boeken, turning the tides entirely with his relentless play.
After slowly taking over the chip lead Blom continued to pound on Boeken, reversing the chip stacks from the start of heads-up play before flopping the nut straight and snapping off a shove from Boeken with top pair.
The turn and river were inconsequential and Blom had another major title and another $1.1 million to take back over to the cash games.
Telker, Raghavan Just a Sample of Talent
As expected the 580-player field for the $10k (H) Main Event brought out the best pros in the world and an almost countless number of them went deep.
Fourth-place finisher in the 2012 WCOOP Main Event, Mike "munchenHB" Telker, amazingly recreated his feat and finished fourth in this event as well.
WPT Five Diamond Classic winner Ravi "govshark2" Raghavan also made the final table and finished in sixth.
Brazilian pro Thiago "XTheDecanoX" Nishijima (11th - $69,600), Mark "AceSpades11" Radoja (20th - 34,800) and Thayer "THAY3R" Rasmussen (28th - $29,000) all finished in the top 30.
Yann "yadio" Dion (41st - $26,100), Pascal "Pass_72" LeFrancois (42nd - $26,100), Mike "Pipedream17" Dietrich (50th - $23,200), Matt "ADZ124" Marafioti (55th - $20,300) and Calvin "cal42688" Anderson (62nd - $20,300) also had deep runs.
