Coming into the day as the chip leader, the popular Raymer held serve over a 3.5 final table before knocking off Robert Crawford heads-up to seal the win.
Crawford earned $42,500 for his runner-up finish.
“I just like the attitude and demeanor on HPT,” Raymer said after his win. “Even if you knock someone out, they leave smiling.”
That seemed to hold true yesterday as even the players knocked out by Raymer seemed content with their result.
“He’s an incredibly nice guy to play with,” said Allan Hedin, the fifth-place finisher.
“Every poker player has had the fantasy of playing against a world champion."
