“Seriously, it’s f***ing ridiculous that I’m still here,” he said on a break from the tournament.
“I’m not being humble. I just wanted to get past Day 1 so my friends wouldn't bust my balls for the rest of my life.”
Pollak, famous for his roles in The Usual Suspects and Casino, is playing in his first WSOP Main Event thanks to Hollywood Poker and appears to be enjoying himself despite saying otherwise.
“This has been the most exhilarating, intense, rewarding five days of my life, that I didn’t need,” said Pollak.
“I probably gave up seven or eight years of my existence from all this stress.”
Not exactly a stranger to poker, Pollak has been playing cash games for years and even briefly hosted Celebrity Poker Showdown in its first season. The Main Event, especially at this stage, is a new experience for Pollak, however.
“I don’t play this level of poker,” said Pollak. “I’m a cash-game guy and I’m really respected in my cash game. I love the mindset and the rules that go with a cash game. They do not apply here.”
Making the Final Table "An Impossibility"
Pollak gained considerable bragging rights by making it through the money bubble on Day 4 of the Main Event. Numerous celebrities play the Main Event but it’s a select few who have made it to the money.
Pollak did it on his first go around.
“You can’t fathom the level of pride I will carry with me and throw in the face of everyone I know, until I die,” joked Pollak. “You really can’t.”
With over 6,000 players eliminated, the final table is drawing ever closer at the 2012 WSOP Main Event.
Despite his position, Pollak wouldn’t even entertain the idea of making it to the final table.
“It’s an impossibility,” he quipped.
Pollak finished with over 700,000 chips on Day 4 of the 2012 Main Event. He, along with 282 players, will return tomorrow with every player getting at least $38,453.
“There’s a hell of an easier way to make this kind of money in my business, I’m not going to lie to you.
"I’ve never worked so hard for so little. I want to think the WSOP for that."
