All three players are featured in the final seven of Event 30 $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball along with Rep Porter and Andrew Lichtenberger.
In addition Cherish Andrews will take the chip lead into the second day of the most recent $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Event and Fabrice Soulier started his defense of his $10k H.O.R.S.E. title by finishing atop the chip counts (You can read more about that event in our WSOP live updates).
Ylon Schwartz and Timothy Adams also snagged bracelets in what turned out to be a very busy day of action at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Cantu Leads, Mizrachi, Lindgren Close Behind in $1,500 2-7 Lowball
Quite often it’s the more obscure tournaments that equal pro-heavy final tables and that was certainly the case in Event 30 2-7 Draw Lowball.
Yesterday two-time bracelet winner Brandon Cantu fought his way to the top of the chip counts and with 336,100 in front of him will have the best shot at winning a bracelet today.
Rep Porter is second with 223,400 while Michael Mizrachi is third with 206,800 and Erick Lindgren fourth with 185,600. Mizrachi has already had one final table this summer while Porter and Lindgren hadn't cashed prior to this event.
Andrew Lichtenberger lurks in fifth with 161,100.
The only problem with the tournament is that the payout does not exactly match the elite competition with only $101,975 going to first place.
Here are the complete final seven chip counts:
Brandon Cantu – 336,100 Rep Porter – 233,400 Michael Mizrachi – 206,800 Erick Lindgren – 185,600 Andrew Lichtenberger – 161,100 Larry Wright – 116,200 Ryan Tepen – 51,100
Cherish Andrews Annihilates $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em
Former HPT hostess Cherish Andrews absolutely crushed her way through the massive field of Event 31 $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em on Day 1.
Andrews nearly doubled her nearest competition with a total of 225,900 chips by the end of the day.
The tournament is one of the biggest of the 2012 WSOP with 2,811 entrants and an eventual $664,130 first-place prize.
