Feel free to throw us a suggestion for a future 3-Bet piece in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at that age-old “hot girl in poker” trope, BrokeLivingJRB setting sail and Neymar Jr. playing poker for a good cause.
1) Shaniac Puts “Hot Poker Girl” Backlash on Blast
For some reason an industry that relies on the constant influx of new players keeps trying to chase away the largest group of them all: women.
Earlier this week Jeff Tims criticized female poker pro Samantha Abernathy on Twitter for using her looks to gain an advantage in poker and it understandably created a minor controversy.
Yesterday Shane “Shaniac” Schleger chimed in via a thoughtful blog post called We Don’t Love These Hoes (Misogyny in Poker):
It's a very tired retelling of the same old, "she got there because of her looks" trope, so allow me to break that one down before proceeding: No successful woman ever achieved her status simply as a measure of her physical beauty or sex appeal.
Even if we look at industries where women are valued primarily for their physical beauty--for every hot actress or fashion model, there's another equally hot one down the street who's also smarter, more ambitious, more shrewd, harder working--and it's those attributes that undoubtedly will buoy her to success beyond mere sexiness.

2) S.S. BrokeLivingJRB Sets Sail
You simply never know where Jean-Robert Bellande is going to show up next.
The famous poker pro, who claims to be broke but always seems to be on vacation in an exotic location, is just at home in a $500k buy-in tournament at Aria as he is chilling at a beach in Mexico.
It now appears Bellande has taken the BrokeLivingJRB show on a boat. A river boat to be exact.
Bellande does have one requirement when he’s on a boat, however. He needs Internet. Gotta keep the grind alive, right?
3) Watch Neymar Jr. Play Poker for Charity
It’s pretty cool how July seems to be developing into a month where poker players take a break from the hardcore circuit and instead play a few charity events.
This week we’ve already had to charity events with the Phil Hellmuth-MCed “Take ‘Em to School” tournament in New York and a Neymar Jr.-led event in Sao Paulo.
Neymar Jr. and friends like Felipe “Mojave” Ramos and Andre Akkari helped raise thousands for charity.
If you’re a huge Neymar Jr. fan then you can actually watch hours of the charity event on YouTube below:
