Have an inside tip from inside or outside the ropes at the Rio? Let us know and we'll feature it here.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Hellmuth back on the case for bracelet #14, 142 hopefuls make a run for $1.2m and Timex cleans out his poker dream catcher.
1) Hellmuth Eyes #14, Seidel #9
It's the perennial side story that looms every summer:
Will Phil Hellmuth win another WSOP bracelet and stretch his overall lead or will his nearest chasers - Ivey, Chan, Seidel, Brunson - slowly reel him back in with one of their own?
Two of the above mentioned will get a shot at adding to their bracelet totals today among the final 12 in Event #17, the $10,000 Razz Championship.
Hellmuth, of course, is the star attraction as he sits third in chips with 307,000 and a very real chance at winning bracelet #14 (and second career Razz bracelet).
Seidel, meanwhile, lurks right behind in fourth with 284,000 and no doubt has an equally real shot at his ninth.
Making things more difficult for both is a slew of cold killers still in the hunt including Thomas Keller, Mike Leah, Mike Gorodinsky, Stephen Chidwick, Shaun Deeb, Eric Wasserson and Brandon Shack-Harris.
Whenever Hellmuth gets this close the buzz is always worth tuning in for so look for some special coverage here on PokerListings all day.
If you want to mainline the hand-for-hand action the live stream will start when they reach 8 players. Watch it here.
2) Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (plus $277k)?
While the Razz event above is clearly more about the bracelet than the prize money ("just" $271k goes to the winner), Event #16, also playing out today at the Rio, is its diametrical opposite.
In fact its very reason for existence lies in the Event title itself - the Millionaire Maker.
One of the most popular new additions to the WSOP carnival the Millionaire Maker guarantees $1m for first and drew 7,275 entries this year to post a pretty thrilling $1,277,193 up top.
Just 142 players remain with a shot at it when play resumes today.
Included among them are some spectacular names in Andrew Lichtenberger, Chris Hunichen, Olivier Busquet, Shannon Shorr, Mike Sexton and Erick Lindgren.
While some might already be poker millionaires we have no doubts they'd happily be re-crowned. Follow the live updates and find full chip counts for the final table here later today.
3) Timex Dreams of Rice Chips
Have you played so much poker already this summer it's infiltrated your dreams?
Mike "Timex" McDonald clearly has:
Last night I dreamt I was at a live FT. My opponents had high denomination chips, I had a mountain of rice that filled 1/2 the table(1/2)
— Mike McDonald (@MikeMcDonald89) June 7, 2015Each grain worth one chip. I'd have to count 10,000 grains to ante and 440,000 grains one hand I 3bet. Any dream experts out there? (2/2)
— Mike McDonald (@MikeMcDonald89) June 7, 2015Ideas, anyone?
WSOP Bonus Min-Bets
1) Las Vegas Eats Itself
Some people will always love Las Vegas for its hedonistic escapism (real or imagined). Some, like former poker pro Shane "Shaniac" Schleger, think it's lost a bit of its luster:
Aggro new blog post regarding what a customer unfriendly shithole Las Vegas has become: http://t.co/k1iiwyqQmC #OSOP
— Shane Schleger (@ShaneSchleger) June 8, 20152) Mercier, Selbst Portioning Out WSOP Carefully
Anyone who has done the full seven-week grind of the World Series of Poker knows how truly exhausting it is.
The best way to stay on your A-game and avoid burnout? Don't try to bite the whole thing off all at once.
PokerStars pros Jason Mercier and Vanessa Selbst clearly hope the break principle pays off in the end:
Landed in Toronto... Here for 3 and a half days to celebrate my best friend getting married. Then back to that Wsop grind #MuchNeededBreak
— Jason Mercier (@JasonMercier) June 4, 2015Landed back in Vegas. Can't believe I missed another Overtime finals game. Also cant believe I missed firing cavs at over +500 for series
— Jason Mercier (@JasonMercier) June 8, 2015Be at WSOP soon--for now just happy I chose to spend some of June in Brooklyn. If this were my livejournal, status would be ::feeling loved::
