Coming into WPT SHRPO, Paul only had a grand total of $74,616 in lifetime poker earnings.
Meanwhile Ebanks brought years of experience to the final table as well as $2.3 million in lifetime earnings and a WSOP gold bracelet.
It wasn’t enough as Paul, who entered the final table as the chip leader, was able to overcome a few bad bounces and snag the outright win.
Ebanks Falls Just Short, Earns $615,000
Ebanks came painfully close to adding a WPT title to his resume mid-way through the heads-up match when he got Paul all-in.
It was a coin flip situation with pocket sixes for Ebanks and Ace-Jack for Paul.
An ace hit on the flop and that was enough to catapult Paul to the massive chip lead and he never looked back.
It didn’t take long for Ebanks to make his presence felt at the final table as he eliminated Ryan Rivers in sixth place to take the chip lead.
In the end, however, it was Paul who outlasted a massive field of 1,476 players to take down his first WPT title.
Paul won’t have a lot of time to dwell on his victory as he was also given the $15,400 entry into the WPT World Championship which starts this weekend at Borgata.
