The 888poker local series has proven to be a surprise hit with more than 1,000 players already taking part in the event, thanks in part to the relatively low buy-in.
Players Snag a Slight Overlay
The latest event in Prague attracted 334 players, each paying €220 to play, with 39 players making the money. Every player in the money actually got some extra value because the prize pool was guaranteed €80,000 and there was a slight overlay.
First place was €19,800 but Artur Rudziankov and eventual runner-up finisher David Kristek made a heads-up deal, leaving €3,200 for the winner.
Kristek had a commanding chip lead at the start of the heads-up but in the end it was Rudziankov who won the title and the extra money. The final pay-outs were €17,325 for first and €14,625 for second place.
“I’m thrilled with my win!" said Rudziankov. “The tournament had an excellent structure for such a small buy-in and 888 really pulled it off on all three days. I hope 888Live Local will return to Prague with more tourneys in the future.”
Czech Pro Martin Hruby Makes Final Table
Martin Hruby, one of the most popular poker players in the Czech Republic and number five in the national all-time money list, also took part in the event and made it all the way to the final table, eventually finishing in seventh place.
“Out in seventh, not bad but definitely not happy either”, tweeted Hruby afterwards.
The 888poker Live Local series is a low buy-in NLHE tournament series with stops all over Europe and beyond.
With tournaments in London, Dublin, Valencia and Prague already in the bag the 888poker circuit is now going down under.
Melbourne will be the next stop, before the series returns to England for an event at the Aspers Casino in Milton Keynes, about 80 km North of London.
Stops in Portugal, Estonia, Croatia, Cyprus and Slovenia are all in the forecast.
There are always online qualifiers running on 888poker, starting as low as $.01 to play.
