In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at PokerStars running a huge $9m-GTD Sunday Million, Darryl Fish getting his due and Floyd Mayweather teaming up with Phil Ivey.
1) PokerStars Running $9 Million-GTD Sunday Million Anniversary
If you’re going to play one online tournament this year you might want to consider the upcoming Sunday Million on PokerStars.
The special ninth anniversary of the iconic weekly tournament will take place March 8 and it features a staggering $9,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
That means for the $215 buy-in you’ve got a shot at what might be a $1 million first-place prize.
This week’s tournament might break records as the richest online tournament ever as the current record-holder is the special $10m-GTD Sunday Million in 2011.
That event ended up generating a massive prize pool of $11.8 million.
It’s unlikely that will happen this time around but dare to dream, right?
If $215 is still a little too rich for liking PokerStars is also running satellites for the massive tournament.
2) Darryl Fish Hooks $173k in WSOPC Palm Beach
Consistent online grinder Darryl Fish is one of those players who’s had a long, successful career, but has somehow not scored a major live title.
That all changed yesterday as Fish was able to swim past 537 players to win the 2015 WSOPC Palm Beach Kennel Club title for $173,189 in Florida.
Fish also picked up the coveted WSOPC gold ring and a seat into the National Championship.
It was one heck of an early birthday present for Fish who turned 29 today.
With the victory Fish moved into $1.6 million in lifetime live tournament earnings, which is pretty impressive for someone who, prior to yesterday, didn’t have a major win.
Not bad for a fish!
3) Floyd Mayweather Pumps Phil Ivey’s Tires
Could Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Phil Ivey be the boxing/poker mega team that we’ve all been waiting for?
OK maybe we haven’t really been waiting for that but it does appear the pair are friends or at least willing to promote each other’s various business interests.
Ivey, who does own a boxing company, has been plugging a potential Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao mega fight for years.
This week Mayweather released the following Tweet telling people to go to Ivey League if they want to learn how to play poker.
Of course what we really want from Mayweather and Ivey is a tutorial about how to stack bricks of cash. They’ve got that down.
