Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to post a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Vanessa Selbst talking injustice inside and outside the poker world, the Mizrachi brothers getting back to their roots and where to play poker with guns.

1) Selbst: "The cards don’t know if you’re a woman, a man, gay, straight or whatever."

We’ve been big Vanessa Selbst fans for awhile.

Not only does she have a game very worthy of respect, she’s always carried herself in an open and honest way and represented something much more important than just tournament wins.

Vanessa Selbst
Can't pay attention to the haters.

She also happens to be the second-leading money winner among female players ever (in just five years) with $4.7 million, if that matters to you.

In a great new interview with Poker Player UK magazine, Selbst opens up with writer Keir Mackay about her cherry-picked TV time, her famous HSP Matt Damon line, her future as a civil rights lawyer and why it's important to represent the LGBT community:

“Sometimes reporters are scared to ask me about it, but I understand that there are no other openly gay, famous poker players, and I want people to ask. “Politics has always been really important to me, and there are very few role models in the LGBT world that are on TV, so for me to be open and honest about who I am, it reinforces the fact that I haven’t become famous because of my sexuality.

“I’m very honest about who I am, and most of the time when people talk negative shit, it’s because they’re jealous of my success.”

2) Grinder and Bro Grinder Open Dealer School in South Florida

Before their careers as pro poker players, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and his brother Robert Mizrachi learned the trade as professional poker dealers in South Florida.

Not only is it where they got their start in the game, it’s what they attribute as the major factor in helping them become successful on the other side of the felt as players.

Grinder’s $11.8 million in earnings and Robert’s $4+ million in earnings can attest to that.

Getting back to their roots, the Mizrachis have now opened a new poker dealer school called the Mizrachi Academy in Hollywood, Florida.

Michael Mizrachi
Grinder: Knows the deal.

Using their experience on the poker circuit as a blueprint for what makes a top-of-the-line dealer, included in the 120-hour, $1,200 poker program are:

Texas Hold’em, 7 Card Stud, Omaha High and Omaha High low Shuffling and Chip Handling Reading hands Pitching Game procedures Game security Game knowledge Dealing techniques Rules and regulations Audition and interview skills Professional Dealer conduct Simulated casino environment Hands on training

Find out more at the Mizrachi Academy website.

3) Shoot Guns, Play Poker, Win Money

If there are two more distinctly American things than guns and poker, we don’t know what they are.

At the Freestate Gun Range in Maryland, you're basically singing the national anthem on a Wednesday night when you play a game of Gun Poker.

Buy in is $5 and the game is 7 Card Stud.

You get seven shots from seven yards away at a paper target with a deck of cards spread out randomly on the other side.

Whatever you hit, you make your best hand from. Winner scoops the money. God Bless America.
