Surprisingly it was Phil Ivey who suffered the most from the German-American’s rebound.
Ivey lost more than $800k last week which made him the top online loser of the week.
Another German player in bbvisbadforme also had a very good week while Patrik Antonius showed why you should never try and beat a Finn at his own name.
TheCortster vs Ivey, bbvisbadforme wins $400k
In 2014 29-year-old Cort Kibler-Melby has made his way to the top of the 2-7 games.
For the last couple of weeks, though, he's had to deal with a serious downswing. Within the past three weeks he burned through almost $1m and was desperately waiting to taste success again.
Last Monday he crossed paths with none other than Phil Ivey, who had been on a constant upswing. But 2-7 isn't necessarily Ivey’s strongest game and he was in for a bit of a surprise.
During one very long session that also had Trueteller from Russia and SanIker from Germany at the table, Ivey filled up Kibler’s bankroll with about $500k. Later in the week he added another $300k, making Ivey the biggest loser online last week.
A total of $836k was cut from Ivey’s Polarizing account to birng his yearly losses up to around $2.6m. Kibler-Melby's account, on the other hand, is now up $2.5m for 2014 and he’s still got a shot at catching Alexander Kostritsyn and Daniel Cates for biggest winner.
There was another player with a very good week in online poker as bbvisbadforme generated a nice piece of profit: $400k. Again it was Phil Ivey who gave a good portion of this money, as did Julius KagomeKagome Fleischer.
Antonius vs. Man in the Mirror
It may not be the most scintillating duel in online high stakes poker these days but Patrik FinddaGrind Antonius has a new nemesis in patriktotonius.
It certainly looks like the name was created only to address Antonius. For the last couple of weeks the two have been battling heads-up for superiority and on Tuesday they met in a four-hour session over 700 hands playing $1k/$2k 8-Game.
At the end of the session the “real” Antonius had an extra $200k in his account, making him one of the five top players of the week.
His opponent, as yet unidentified, went to the top five of the losers of the week.
Biggest Pot of the Week
Just like the week before, Phil Polarizing Ivey and Mikael punting-peddler Thuritz played the biggest hand of the week.
The game was heads-up PLO and the limits were $300/$600. Ivey opened, Thuritz put in a 3-bet which Ivey raised to $16k and the Swede just called.

Ivey tried here to represent aces. The strategy could well have worked as there are many flops that would have forced Thuritz to fold.
As it turned out the flop was near perfect for Thuritz’s nicely connected hand. He is drawing to a flush, he's open ended for a straight and he even has an out to a straight flush. And, of course, he hits top trips.
Ivey on the other side of the table has pure air. Just to make it a little worse, Thuritz also hits the flush on the river. $83k moves into the Swede’s bankroll.
