Want the latest news and gossip buzzing around the tournament floor at the Rio in Las Vegas? Here's where you'll find it.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Phil Ivey on the brink of the moment we've been waiting for, Phil Hellmuth plummets from bracelet contention in Event #49 and a new monster rises on the WSOP tournament scene.

1) Ivey Third with 14 Left in 8-Game

After 48 events and a half-dozen or so hopeful beginnings, Phil Ivey has finally delivered what poker fans have been waiting for all summer - a bracelet run.

Negreanu thinks something special could be brewing.

Ivey is third in chips heading into Day 3 of Event #50, $1,500 8-Game Mix, with just 14 players left.

Making things even more interesting Ivey's running mate in the rumored $400k bracelet bet, Daniel Negreanu, is also still in.

There will be a palpable buzz around the Rio today as the two poker superstars make their way toward the final table.

Seniors Event winner and 2014 Spirit of Poker nominee Dan Heimiller has the chip lead, which is also really cool, and Brit Stephen Chidwick is still alive too, which will make for a very interesting day of poker.

We'll have special coverage all day right here on PokerListings so be sure to check back on our 2014 WSOP page.

2) Hellmuth Has Chip Lead, Then He Doesn't

The other member of poker's Big Three also had a promising run going in Event #49, $5k No-Limit Hold'em, yesterday.

Circling the chip lead with around 72 players left Hellmuth was feeling the swagger that comes along with the hint of bracelet #14.

#PHRising! Picked up @WSOP cash #106 (my sixth in 2014) in #WSOP5KNLHoldem. 72 left: I think I'm chip leader. #KnockKnockBracelet14

Shortly after, though, things went south:

Made a misstep and now I'm a short stack!! Why do I have to make it so hard on myself?

— phil_hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth) June 27, 2014

Can't believe I played this hand that badly today deep in $5K NLHoldem! Shoulda folded on flop @WSOP http://t.co/9ODFZbji7h

— phil_hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth) June 27, 2014

Finished 35th in #WSOP5KNLHoldem, very disappointed...The deep runs continue, BUT I'm here to win! #HighStandards #NoOneRemembers2ndPlace

If Ivey collects his 10th bracelet today that would put the gap between him and Hellmuth at just three bracelets. We can only imagine the mixed emotions Hellmuth will feel.

3) WSOP Monster Stack Goes Off, Reaches Main Event Proportions

Remember that growing frenzy we mentioned yesterday surrounding the first-ever WSOP Monster Stack event?

Turns out it was only the beginning as swarms of poker players flooded the Rio looking for a piece of the action.

An extra flight was added, bathroom lines were Space Mountainesque and players got seated as late as 12 AM.

By day's end almost 8,000 (!) players had registered to build an $11m prize pool and a $1.3m first-place prize - for a $1,500 buy-in tournament!

Needless to say almost everyone involved was thrilled about it, for a variety of reasons - except for those who decided to skip it (or who needed to pee):

Bagged 24.4k in the monster stack. Absolute zoo in here today and almost 8,000 entries! My man @WSOPTD has it all under control! Great job!

registered for @wsop monster stack 740pm but still waiting. Not a big deal for such an amazing turnout. #givethepeoplewhattheywant

— Christopher DeMaci (@DeMaci_Poker) June 27, 2014

Props to @WSOP to multi-flight this monster and accommodate 8K players in one day. I see tons of faces living the dream in here

— Marc-Andre Ladouceur (@MarcAndre_FDawg) June 27, 2014

All these monster stack updates are making me wanna go back to rio to play it

— Loni Harwood (@Luscious_Lon) June 27, 2014

— Sam Trickett (@Samtrickett1) June 27, 2014

I love to see all the guys standing in line for the bathroom. Now you see what we have to go through. #revenge #toughlife

— Gaëlle Baumann (@_O_RLY) June 27, 2014

Never before have I played against such a collection of genuinely hopeless poker players, the game is a long way from dead #monsterstack
