Signed as an 888poker brand ambassador just over a month ago, Suárez began the World Cup on a high note, scoring two goals in Uruguay's 2-1 win over England.
In the following game, however, which Uruguay also won to advance to the knockout stage, Suárez was accused of biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Suárez denied biting Chiellini, but following an investigation FIFA banned the Liverpool striker from nine international matches and suspended him for four months.
888poker immediately placed the sponsorship under review and less than 24 hours later officially terminated its contract with Suárez and issued the following statement:
"888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantastic season for which his achievements were widely recognized.
"Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect."
Fourth Time Suárez Involved in Major Incident
Biting an opponent is not an unfamiliar activity for Suárez.
In November 2010, while playing for Ajax in the Dutch league, Suárez was banned seven games for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal.
Just last year, while playing for Liverpool in the English Premier League, Suárez was suspended 10 games for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
Suárez was also banned for 8 games in 2011 after using racial slurs toward Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
