The predominately online player - who's racked up a phenomenal $5.8m online under the nickname "UhhMee" - only dabbles in the live game but made it worth his time in Australia.

Barer topped a stacked 668-player field to add the $1.6m to his bankroll and crush his previous best live score of $180k.

On top of that Barer defeated fellow Canadian Sorel Mizzi - who's notroiously run well in Australia - heads-up to finish things off.

Balsiger Snake-Bit, Seiver Out First

The much anticipated final table got back underway after a day's break for the $100k Challenge to play out with deep stacks and plenty of room to make moves.

It took three hours for the first player to go as one of the major contenders coming in, Scott Seiver, hit the rail after losing a flip. The last Aussie hope in the field, Andrew Phaedonos, went out next ensuring a North American champ for the first-time ever.

Jake Balsiger
Tough finish for Balsiger.

2012 October Niner Jake Balsiger looked prime to stake his claim for the title three-handed when he got it in with kings to Barer's A T but a cruel 9 8 7 5 6 board sent him packing.

Barer's 2.2-1 chip lead was too much to overcome heads-up and Mizzi was done soon after, pocketing $1m AUD. Balsiger claimed $650k AUD for third.
