Greenstein, Johnson Make Poker Hall of Fame

Greenstein and Johnson become the 41st and 42nd members of the Hall of Fame and Johnson only the second woman to be inducted alongside Barbara Enright.

"I am extremely proud and humbled to be voted into the Poker Hall of Fame,” Johnson said in a release. 

“I feel lucky to have been involved in many facets of poker over the past 35 years. Being recognized by the industry is a tremendous honor.”

Added Greenstein:

"I'm happy to be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside my friend Linda Johnson who has been the most fervent ambassador for poker for as long as I can remember.”

The official induction ceremony is scheduled for November 8 in Las Vegas as part of the WSOP Main Event final-table production.

The two inductees were part of a ten-player group that were nominated for induction this year with 35 votes – 17 from members of the poker media and 18 from living members of the HOF – cast to determine the final two.

Other players nominated in 2011 but missing out on enough votes for induction were John Juanda, Huck Seed, Scotty Nguyen, Jennifer Harman-Traniello, Annie Duke, Tom McEvoy, Jack McClelland and Marcel Luske.

For his tournament career, Greenstein has over $7.5 million in worldwide earnings and has won at least six figures on the live poker tournament circuit for nine consecutive years. 

He also has three World Series of Poker bracelets, two WPT titles and plays regularly in the highest-stakes cash games in the world.

A former owner of CardPlayer magazine, Johnson is one of only 15 female poker players to win an open-field WSOP championship and has seven WSOP final-table appearances.

Johnson has co-written three books on poker and is currently on the Board of Directors for the PPA and the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS). She is also the founder of PokerGives.org, which helps poker players contibute to charitable causes.

The official ceremony will take place at 4:30 pm at the Penn and Teller theatre at the Rio in Las Vegas just prior to the start of the final playdown for the 2011 WSOP Main Event title.
