Lewis, widely regarded as one of the best English online players, outlasted 2,090 players in WCOOP-6 $215 NLHE (Turbo, Rebuy) to claim a first-place prize of $189,379.
It was Lewis’ first WCOOP title, which will go well with his EPT Vilamoura victory from 2010.
A former EPT winner – Lewis won EPT Vilamoura in 2010 – this was his first WCOOP title.
PokerStars pros Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen (20th) and Tatiana “Mysters_Y” Barausova (14th) both made deep runs but missed the final table.
Lewis’ biggest threat at the final table had to be online master Russell “rdcrsn” Carson. Carson didn’t much going at the final table, however, and was eliminated in seventh place.

Another former EPT winner nearly followed Toby Lewis’ example last night to record her first WCOOP victory last night.
Liv Boeree fell just short in WCOOP-5 $320 NL 6-Max Shootout when she was eliminated by eventually winner Aduobe4 in fifth place. She picked up $15,552 for her efforts.
Boeree was on the warpath leading to the final table and smashed her three previous shootout tables.
Her final hand was unfortunate as she had ace-queen to Adoube4’s king-jack. Boeree flopped top-pair and rivered two-pair but Adoube4 rivered a broadway straight to eliminate her.
Despite plenty of PokerStars pros on hand for the event including Lex Veldhuis, ElkY and Eugene Katchalov, Boeree was the only one that cashed.
