Today in the 3-Bet we find a poker night with Gary Busey ending up pretty much how you think it will, Mike Matusow among the luminaries aboard the first Poker Night in America jet pack and Scotty Nguyen doing what you do on a hot summer day in Vegas.
1) Poker with Gary Busey Heavy on Perving, Hissy Fits
Hey, ever wonder what playing poker with Gary Busey might be like?
In our hearts we sort of hope it might be like spending a few hours with a loose-but-not-quite-unhinged Angelo Pappas, bullshitting about a hunch he has about a nomadic group of surfers.
According to Nolan Dalla, a man with a million amazing poker stories who wrote about playing a charity event with Busey once in a new blog post, it's decidedly more ugly. An excerpt:
"Totally oblivious to normal poker etiquette when players out the hand talk softly, if at all, Busey behaved like he was the life of the party. He ignored players and the betting action completely – even when they were all in. Busey would laugh openly after players took a beat and ask compelely irrelevant questions while others were pondering a critical decision.
"But what was most peculiar of all were Busey’s seemingly duel personalities. As he became increasingly bored with a game he neither understand nor had any desire to learn, Busey began exhibiting the characteristics of someone with multiple personality disorder."
It gets worse from there. Much worse. Check the full piece out here.
2) Pros Jet to Turning Stone for Poker Night in America
Remember the new, unlike-any-poker-show-we've-seen-before-promises of the upcoming Poker Night in America?
Looks like it's off to a good start with an eclectic group of pros picked up in a private jet today in Vegas and whisked to Turning Stone in NY to play/tape the first episode.
Among the luminaries on board: Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, Gavin Smith, Phil Laak, Layne Flack, Greg "FBT" Mueller, David Williams and Eli Elezra - all who rank pretty high on the "interesting to watch play poker on TV" ladder.
As part of the social media friendly, "more than just the cards" vibe of the event the Twitpics/good humor were flying before take off:
