Duhamel, who lives in Boucherville just outside of Montreal, was briefly treated at the hospital but is now recovering at home.
According to the Globe and Mail, police say two men rang the doorbell of Duhamel's condo and then forced themselves in.
The police declined to name Duhamel as the victim but his agent later confirmed it was him.
Duhamel was "roughed up" but managed to call 911 after the invaders left, the police say, and was taken to hospital for minor injuries.
"We are not talking about kidnapping," police spokesperson Mark David told cyberpresse.ca, "but of aggression.
"He was a victim of assault. He was wounded."
David suggested Duhamel was punched. His mother later told the media Duhamel is fine and doing well.
Police have yet to determine if Duhamel was specifically targeted by the robbers or if he was just an unfortunate victim of circumstance.
No arrests have been made as of yet.
Duhamel is best known for winning $8.9 million at the 2010 WSOP Main Event and has since won at least another $600,000 in live poker events.
UPDATE: Police are reporting that among the items stolen from Duhamel is his 2010 WSOP championship bracelet.
A Rolex watch and cash were also reported missing.
