With all four pros below average in the chip counts there’s a good chance the massive first-place payout (with €589,000 added by Dusk Till Dawn) will go to a relatively unknown player or complete amateur.
After Day 4 a total of 20 players remain from the original 761-player starting field. French qualifier Alban Juen is the overall chip leader with 5.2 million. It’s the third straight day that Juen has finished with the chip lead.
German Ole Schemion, one of yesterday’s chip leaders, surprisingly hit the rail midway through Day 4 when he lost a coinflip.
ISPT ambassador Sam Trickett also busted on Day 4 and he certainly handled his elimination with class. Trickett donated his entire €3,000 payout to dealers in the event. Of course he probably isn’t too hard up for cash.
Here’s a look at the top 10 chip counts at the end of Day 4:
1. Alban Juen – 5,265,000 2. Nick Hicks – 4,785,000 3. Pette Linton – 4,515,000 4. Jakub Michalak – 3,475,000 5. Xavier el Fassy – 2,770,000 6. Gwendoline Janot – 2,470,000 7. Leigh Wiltshire – 2,310,000 8. Florian Hoeller – 2,030,000 9. Jean Miguel Lacerda – 1,735,000 10. Dave Ulliott – 1,700,000Eastgate, Saout, Lewis Succumb to the Rail
Sam Trickett and Ole Schemion certainly weren’t the only players to bust on Day 4 as former world champion Peter Eastgate, November Niner Antoine Saout and England’s Toby Lewis were all eliminated.
Thanks to DTD’s added overlay, the inaugural ISPT Wembley offered a tremendous value to everyone that played and the 1 million first-place prize is a substantial return on the relatively small €3,000 buy-in.
In some ways the event is remarkably similar to the Millionaire Maker, which is currently running at the 2013 WSOP in Las Vegas.
ISPT Wembley resumes at 12 p.m. UK time tomorrow with the goal of setting a final table.
