In today’s 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Tom Dwan getting his durrrr on, a video clip from Jean-Robert Bellande and a great Ars Technica article on U.S. poker.

1) durrrr gonna durrrr: Tom Dwan Wins $500k

Tom Dwan has plenty to smile about.

 

While most of the attention in the high-stakes online games has been on Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in 2013, Tom “durrrr” Dwan has been quietly proving that he’s still got it.

Last night Dwan absolutely slayed his competition in the $500/$1,000 PLO Cap games to win a total of $527k, according to highstakesdb.com.

Dwan beat the likes of Gus Hansen, DrugsOrMe, trex313 and Ronny Kaiser in one of his biggest sessions of the year.

There were a number of questions surrounding Dwan’s online game when he was getting smashed by jungleman12 in the durrrr Challenge and generally getting owned on Full Tilt.

Critics said that Dwan had fallen out of touch with the high-stakes games and simply didn’t have the ability to dominate like he did in the past.

That doesn’t appear to be the case in 2013 as Dwan has easily been one of the best players on Full Tilt Poker and is up $2.1 million on the site.

Now if only he could get back to that durrrr Challenge match...

2) Ars Technica on U.S. Poker: “Not Enough Fish in the Sea”

There’s been a lot of optimism regarding Ultimate Poker’s successful launch in the U.S.A. but tech site Ars Technica recently pointed out there are still some significant challenges facing American online poker.

One of the biggest issues is that there simply isn’t enough of a player base in Nevada, according to Ars Technica.

It does seem there will have to be some sort of inter-state alliance or the U.S.-facing sites will never be able to achieve the critical mass needed to rival with major European poker sites.

The site interviewed noted poker pro Matt Stout, who is now living in the Netherlands, and he relayed that major changes are still needed before serious grinders would be able to once again make a living in the U.S. playing online poker.

The article also goes into detail about how sites like Ultimate Poker use geo-location technologies to make sure their players are physically located in Nevada. It also goes into the issue of VPNs, which allow players to bypass IP-based limitation.

3) JRB Tweets Video of Stacked Aria Game

Well it appears Jean-Robert Bellande has figured out micro-video clip service Vine and the poker Tweeting world may never be the same again.

Bellande, who’s up to 65,390 Twitter followers by the way, sent a Tweet to Daniel Negreanu telling him he was missing out on a good game. He also attached a Vine video of the table.

It turns out that game has a few more well-known poker players (we count nearly 30 WSOP bracelets between the players at the table). Check below to see the game:
