For the second straight day Joentausta finished as the overall chip leader with just over one million chips. With 55 players left, there’s a good chance the Finn is already thinking about the final table.
Swede Emil Ohlsson is second in chips, only trailing Joentausta by a scant 30,000 chips, while Ramil Yusupov and Matias Juhani Kesanen both cracked 900,000.
Perhaps the biggest threat in the top 20, however, is true grinder Calvin Anderson who amassed 744,000.
A total of 32 players were eliminated on Day 3 of EPT Berlin including the aforementioned Nitsche and Jorgensen. It was actually Jorgensen who crippled Nitsche in a huge hand.
PokerStars Pro Jan Heitmann, Todd Terry, Adam Levy, Barny Boatman and Team Online Pro Mickey Petersen all hit the rail on Day 3.
Busquet, Becker, Boeree Still in the Hunt
The surviving group of 55 players is littered with big names including skilled poker pro and ESPN commentator Olivier Busquet who’s looking very dangerous with 719,000 chips.
Some of the other players to watch include Pratyush Buddiga (365,000), Liv Boeree (279,000), Bryn Kenney (220,000) and former EPT Dortmund winner Sandra Naujoks (202,000).
Interestingly famous retired Tennis pro Boris Becker also made Day 4 with 116,000 chips. It’s the deepest that Becker has ever made it in an EPT Main Event.
Play resumes in Berlin tomorrow at noon local time as they play down to the final 16. Be sure to check out our live stream of the EPT Berlin final table.
