Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Viktor “Isildur1” Blom burning through some of his early 2013 profits, Vanessa Rousso bringing the house down at the PokerStars PCA party and Greg Jensen, sixth-place finisher at the PCA $100k Super High Roller, doing something truly extraordinary with his prize money.
1) Blom Burns Off $1m Against Galfond; Galfond Thinks
As we reported earlier Viktor “Isildur1” Blom showed the first cracks in his 2013 armor last night by dropping $1m to Phil Galfond in a huge $300/$600 PLO session.
No need to weep for the young Swede as he’s still up $4m for the year, but another bad session or two and things could start to spiral downhill quickly. Or, you know, it could just be the normal swings of high-stakes poker.
Regardless, if you want to get inside the mind of one of the participants Galfond has posted a couple of the big hands and his thoughts on them over in the runitonce forums.
Again it shows just how far ahead you have to be to even think about diving into the elite pool at the top of our game. Ever thought something like this after your home game broke up?
“Some will ask what I think his range is, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure. Viktor, like me, adjusts his entire strategy when he sees me adjusting to something, so it's really just a guessing game in each moment.
“He's capable of being tricky here in terms of mixing in slowplays with his weaker SD value range, but I don't expect him to x/c flop without at least Axxx or KQJT, or maybe KJT9 at the absolute worst.”
2) Vanessa Rousso Crushes on Tables at PCA Party
Think people liked the way Vanessa Rousso (and her partner @DJLISAPITTMAN) held things down on the turntables at the PCA party last night?

— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) January 14, 20133) Jensen Donates $286k PCA Payout to Sandy Hook Victims
We’ve always said poker players get short shrift when it comes to just how much they give to charitable causes and Greg Jensen has proved the giving spirit in poker is as strong as ever.
Former intern-turned-top-hedge-fund-manager/CEO at Bridgewater Associates and one of CNN's Top 40 Under 40, Jensen, who was gifted a $10k buy-in for the PCA Main Event for his birthday, decided to play the $100k Super High Roller last week on a whim.
He cashed sixth for $286,200. And he's now passing that good fortune on by donating all of it to the victims of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.
Another amazing gesture by another inspiring member of the poker community.
More on the story and Jensen from the Westport Patch here.
