Lightman, who previously held a marketing position at PokerStars, has been charged with rehabilitating the Full Tilt Poker brand following one of the biggest scandals in online poker history.
And with FTP's re-launch just over one month away Lightman is ramping up his marketing efforts.
Today he announced that former Team Full Tilt member Gus Hansen has signed on to become the new FTP's first brand ambassador, and in the following Q&A Lightman tells us that it's just the beginning.
Keep reading to learn more about Full Tilt Poker's plans for their imminent resurrection.
PokerListings: Why did you choose Gus Hansen as the first pro for the new Full Tilt Poker?
Sarne Lightman: Gus represents the best of Full Tilt Poker’s heritage. He is one of the most recognisable, credible and successful poker players in the game today. We are committed to rebuilding the strength and authenticity of the Full Tilt Poker brand and feel that Gus is the perfect ambassador to help us achieve this.
PL: Are there any plans for a full pro team on Full Tilt Poker?
SL: Watch this space. You can certainly expect a few more global names to be announced before we launch on November 6th
PL: Is there a possibility the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker player pools will combine in the future?
SL: We plan to re-launch Full Tilt Poker as a completely separate site with its own software, promotions and player pool. We want to offer our players a unique customer experience, separate (and hopefully better) than that of PokerStars.
PL: Will FTP players be able to qualify for EPT events?
SL: That will be up to our Players. We intend to reach out to our players both before and after re-launch to work with them to define what it is they want from the site going forward and part of that will be the potential to qualify for EPT and other global poker events.
PL: What can players expect when Full Tilt Poker re-opens on Nov. 6?
SL: Everything they previously loved about Full Tilt Poker and more. The fully customisable client, the games, tournaments and promotions including of course Rush and FTOPS.
They can also expect plenty of re-launch celebrations and promotions which we will be sharing closer to the time.
PL: What are you going to do about loyalty points, Iron Man, etc.?
SL: All Full Tilt Points will be in player’s accounts and usable as normal on re-launch. We haven’t announced our plans for other promotions, but players can expect to learn many more details in coming weeks.
PL: How do you plan to repair the image of Full Tilt Poker?
SL: First and foremost, we’ll re-open the site and give players access to their accounts. As part of Rational Group, which owns and operates PokerStars, we follow their best practices in protecting player funds and in game security and integrity. And we plan to operate under a global license from Isle of Man, whose regulatory regime has proven to be one of the most stringent and protective in the world.
We have many new games and features in the pipeline, a few will be revealed at launch but you can expect many more going forward. We hope to quickly regain Full Tilt Poker’s position as the world’s most innovative online poker site.
