Kelly joined fellow US grinder Jason Wheeler as the only name-pros to make final tables but ultimately they both fell short of the serious money up for grabs.
All told, three different players scored six-figure paydays and we’ve got the details on all of it for you below in our daily recap of the 2012 World Championship of Online Poker at PokerStars.com.
Event 18: $109 NL Hold’em – $750,000 Guaranteed
The 19th event of this year’s WCOOP crushed its $750,000 guarantee to come within spitting distance of a cool million.
9,959 players bought in with eventual winner Kodalite from Norway taking down $140,186.
Ultimately the tournament was decided by a heads-up deal between the Norwegian and uR.Silver from Russia who pocketed $113,374. Kodalite entered heads-up with a roughly three to one chip lead and took $125k to uR.Silver’s $113k in the chop.
$15,000 was left on the table which Kodalite snagged after just a few hands. The Russian turned aces up and the Norwegian rivered a flush with the money going in on fifth street.
