With two day 1s drawing nearly 600 players plus reentries, an expected €1 million is now on the table for first.
Strong out of the gate in search of that €1 million are two of the Mizrachi brothers, Michael and Robert, who find themselves in the top 10 in chips to start Day 2.
After very solid Day 1bs today Robert will start the day in fifth overall with 161,400 while Michael will return with 144,800, good for eighth.
Both, however, will be chasing the chip leader from Day 1a, Marcello Marigliano, who bagged up 187,300 yesterday to grab the overall chip lead.
Antonius, a noteworthy presence in any tournament, also took a seat in Cannes today and will return for Day 2 with just under 90k in chips - well within striking distance of the leaders.
Notables Pepper the Field
Despite the draw of the ongoing WCOOP and WinStar River Poker Series in Oklahoma, dozens of notables still made the journey to Cannes to take part.
Players above 100k in chips and near the top of the counts heading into Day 2 include former November Niner Antoine Saout, Davidi Kitai, Tristan Clemencon, David Williams, Tobias Renkemeier, Vanessa Selbst and Robert Yong.
Also making a surprise appearance and bagging up just over 100k is Finn Thomas Wahlroos, a well known high-stakes player prone to disappearing from the poker scene for long stretches of time.

Some of the other notables surviving to see Day 2 include Justin Bonomo, Jonathan Duhamel, Pius Heinz, Sam Trickett, Liv Boeree, Jason Mercier and Weeds producer Matt Salsberg.
