If you have suggestions for future 3-Bets (and we’re guessing you do) just throw them in the comments section below. It’s that easy.
Today in the 3-Bet we find Daniel Negreanu getting another acting gig, Warren Buffett hosting a private poker tournament and Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan confirmed for a massive high roller event in Macau.
1) Macau HK$2m Rebuy Hits 80 Players Including Ivey, Dwan, Hansen
The Macau HK$2m ($256k USD) with one rebuy that was announced earlier this year is turning into one hell of an event.
AsianLogic CEO and Macau insider Tom Hall has confirmed via 2+2 poker forum that the massive rebuy tournament has hit its cap of 80 players with Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Erik Seidel, Nam Le, Joe Hachem, John Juanda and Johnny Chan all registered.
Interestingly over 40 of the entrants are rumored to be local players.
If everything goes according to plan the unheralded tournament will become one of the biggest poker events in history with a prizepool of at least $20 million and a first place prize in excess of $6 million.
Perhaps Antonio Esfandiari should think about doing whatever it takes to get into the event.
The massive tournament is scheduled to take place on Aug. 31 at the Starworld Casino in Macau.
2) An Inside Look at Warren Buffett’s Exclusive Poker Tournament
Forbes Magazine published an interesting piece this week about Warren Buffett’s exclusive poker tournament for ballers NetJets owners.
The tournament features numerous heavy hitters in the financial world with NetJets fractional ownership coming at a minimum of $200k.
This year the extravagant weekend included food, drink and entertainment provided by comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
The tournament itself offered a $500k prizepool to the 240-player field including 10 hours of time on a Bombardier Global 5000, worth $150k.
There was also a bounty system in play and anyone who busted a notable player such as Buffett or NBA star Vince Carter received a $5,000 bonus.
It’s always great when poker gets mainstream coverage but it can also be a little painful when it comes to their hand descriptions. Check out this beauty from the Forbes story:
…I flopped three sevens, with a pair hidden, enticing Mayers to throw in most of his pot–a tactic that turned against me when he nailed a flush on “the river,” or last card…
Oh boy.
3) Daniel Negreanu Gets D-Listed on TV
Team PokerStars Pro and all-around poker celebrity Daniel Negreanu has a penchant for making cameos in films as anyone who has seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Luck You can attest to.
Well Negreanu has outdone himself this time around by playing a newscaster named Brandon Czeczouceau in the movie Detention. He even has a couple lines in the movie.
You can check out a clip of Negreanu’s scene below:
