A total of 217 players made it through the day including a slew of high-profile poker players, most notably high stakes pro Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies who finished second in chips with 523,500.
Sahamies has run hot at EPT Barcelona and finished fourth in the Super High Roller event to win $358,644.
Lucille Cailly (360,700), Jason Wheeler (320,000) and Jonathan Karamalikis (317,000) are also in the top 20 chip counts.
Juanda is one of the most recognizable players in poker and has over $12 million in tournament winnings.
His most notable victory came in the Main Event of the 2008 WSOPE where he played a marathon heads-up match against Russian Stanislav Alekhin before finally walking away with the $1.5 million first-place prize.
Juanda’s most recent victory came in 2011 when he won the $10k No-Limit 2-7 event at the WSOP for $367k.
Negreanu Prospers; Hansen, Mercier Bust
Still up for grabs is EPT Barcelona’s record-setting prizepool of €5.2 million with €1 million for first place. The money starts with 160 players left.Daniel Negreanu, who struggled through a tough day yesterday, had much more success on Day 2 to finish with a stack of 248,600.
Xuan Liu, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Andrey Zaichenko, Jani Sointula, Erich Kollman, Jake Cody, Theo Jorgensen and Elisabeth Hille are also among the numerous players who will try to make their way into the money tomorrow.
