Anderson, who already has two SCOOP titles and a WCOOP title on PokerStars, won $83,835 for outlasting 2,653 players in the Sunday Warm-Up.
Poker players’ attention was somewhat split yesterday as the European Poker Tour’s ninth season officially began yesterday with the Main Event in Barcelona.
Dan Smith also beat JC Alverado to win nearly one million Euros in the $50k EPT Barcelona Super High Roller.
That didn’t stop thousands of players from flocking to the Sunday Million, Sunday Warm-Up and the $150k guaranteed on the iPoker Network.
Here’s a complete breakdown of three notable events yesterday:
PokerStars Sunday Million
As usual the PokerStars Sunday Million was top dog in the online poker world although it did see a slight decrease in attendance, most likely due to EPT Barcelona.
This week 5,747 players bought into the tournament to create a $1.1 million prizepool, just barely hitting the guarantee.
Most of the Team PokerStars Pros were wrapped up in EPT Barcelona but Maxim Lykov found the time to get in on the action and eventually finished 622nd for $367.
It took just over nine hours to set the final table with Fish4trips the chip leader with a 13-million-chip stack.
Manitouwadge was dominant in the early stages of the final table and became the first player to pass the 20-million chip mark.
Fish4trips held on, however, and eventually entered heads-up play with a slight advantage over Manitouwadge.
In the final hand of the tournament Fish4trips called all-in with 8-7 and flopped two pair to crush Manitouwadge’s ace-jack.
Here’s a look at the final table payouts:
1. Fish4trips - $178,159 2. Manitouwadge - $132,181 3. Stealy7 - $93,101 4. Katalo269 - $64,538 5. Bandano - $48,274 6. Gosuoposum1 - $36,780 7. AlexaUKR - $25,286 8. Adrianofcrj - $14,367 9. Nsinger - $8,965
PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up
Calvin “cal42688” Anderson wasn’t the only recognizable player at the final table of the Sunday Warm-Up.
L.A. poker pro Darren Elias, who was playing from Canada, actually made it to heads-up before busting second for $62,610.
Elias made $43k at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this summer but easily eclipsed that number in a single night on PokerStars yesterday.
English poker player Phil “Jackal69” Shaw also made it to the final table of the Warm-Up but ended up finishing ninth for $4,510.
Once again the Team PokerStars in the tournament were few and far between thanks to EPT Barcelona but Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen did manage to finish 161st for $610.
Here are the final table payouts for this week’s Sunday Warm-Up:
1. cal42688 - $83,835 2. Darrenelias - $62,610 3. Flopped6810 - $44,570 4. Fengikareh - $31,034 5. PUAboy - $23,081 6. Xplogo - $17,775 7. TapeWormJim - $12,469 8. OpenShip27 - $7,693 9. Jackal69 - $4,510
