Gee and Greg Merson are the only bracelet winners at the 2012 Main Event final table.
The bulk of Gee’s previous cashes were those of a cash game player who took an occasional shot at low buy-in tournaments.
He has a few $1,000+ cashes over the years in California tournaments but all that changed in 2010.
He managed a min-cash of $3,114 in a $1,500 NLHE event at the 2010 WSOP but put some of those winnings to excellent use when he then entered a $1,000 NLHE event.
He plowed his way through a field of 3,042 runners to take down a bracelet and $472,479 in cash.
Gee got his poker start back in the day playing draw lowball in California casinos when he was still underage. He took his shot playing professionally in the late 1970s.
He drifted away from the game when he decided to go legit and worked as a project management in software development.
But Gee couldn’t quite shake the poker bug and dipped his toe back into cash games at Commerce and the Bellagio in 2007 and never looked back.
He’ll be one of the elder statesman of the final table along with Michael Esposito.
