Schulman outlasted 101 players to win the $10k 2-7 (No-Limit) Championship for $294,321.
One of the best 2-7 players in the world, Schulman won the same tournament in 2009 and made the final table of the event last year.
“I would say this win is the sweetest one I’ve had,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of deep runs lately but haven’t been able to close one out. It’s kind of a relief.
Schulman has an impressive list of poker achievements including one WPT title, three WPT final tables, two WSOP bracelets and over $5 million in lifetime earnings.
The 27 year old grew up playing pool in New York City but turned to poker in his late teens. He eventually started playing online poker where he gained notoriety under his online alias The Takeover.
He was only 21 when he won his WPT Foxwoods for $2.1 million back in 2005.
Last night Schulman overcame a stacked final table that included George Danzer, Ashton Griffin, John Juanda and Bob Bright. In the end Schulman beat noted cash game veteran Mike Wattel to claim his second bracelet.
Schulman is proof that at the WSOP your luck can change in a single tournament.
“I still love to play but it gets tough sometimes,” he said. “I had sort of a bad summer until this. I was getting down on myself and my game.”
Despite the victory even Schulman admitted he’s already started thinking about this year’s Main Event.
“The Main Event is the greatest opportunity in poker,” he said. “It’s also in a game I really like to play, which is No-Limit Hold’em. I think every poker player thinks about making the final table.”
The 2012 Main Event is already underway and you can follow along in real-time with our WSOP live updates.
