If media attention is something Selbst was looking for when she won her second bracelet she picked an inopportune time to do it.
The $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop kicked off earlier today, packing the Amazon Room with spectators and leaving Selbst’s final table in the Pavilion largely unwatched.
But while the crowds of fans and most of the media were witnessing the world’s first million-dollar buy-in tournament, Selbst was busy winning the $2,500 10-Game tournament that began two days ago. Selbst received $244,259 for the victory.
While six women have now won multiple WSOP bracelets, Selbst joins Jennifer Harman as the only women to have won two bracelets in open WSOP events. Selbst is also the first woman to win an open event since she herself won a bracelet in 2008.
With this victory Selbst increases her career earnings to over $5.35 million.
Selbst Dominates Final Table
Selbst defeated Michael Saltzberg heads-up after eliminating every other player save one at the final table.
Saltzberg is also a previous WSOP bracelet winner, having won the $2,500 Seven-Card Stud event in 2003. He received $150,840 for his runner-up finish tonight.
Making his second final table of the summer was Sweden’s Chris Bjorin who finished fourth for just over $64k. Bjorin is the owner of two WSOP bracelets and is the leading all-time tournament money winner from Sweden with over $5.2 million in earnings.
Here are the full final table results:
1. Vanessa Selbst - $244,259 2. Michael Saltzburg - $150,840 3. Tommy Hang - $97,884 4. Chris Bjorin - $64,649 5. Thomas Chambers - $43,099 6. Mike Gorodinsky - $30,169
