After 16 levels of play Lovgren is among the surviving 96 players from an initial field of 1,607 on Day 2 of the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em event.

The young Swede has already secured her first cash at the WSOP in Las Vegas but will attempt to take a run at the epic $694,609 first-place prize.

More Hands on PKR Than Any Female

In the late 2000s, Lovgren put in a huge amount of volume on PKR Poker under her online name “welllbet” and was eventually noticed by management at the company.

After a series of interviews she became a full-fledged member of Team PKR Pro.

“I actually played more hands than any female player on the site ever,” she explained. “They gave me this opportunity, which is great.

"It’s really fun getting to travel around the world and play poker.”

Learning the Ropes of Tournament Variance

Lovgren was one of the biggest winners in the medium-stakes cash games on PKR and she’s continued to perform well in those games.

Over the last few years the Gothenburg native has spent more time on the live tournament circuit and plays about two events a month. She’s getting well acquainted with tournament variance.

“I bubbled my last five tournaments and three of them were with the best hand,” she said. “Fortunately online is going well, which really helps when I go through a dry spell in tournaments.”

Of course online poker has changed dramatically since Black Friday and Lovgren admitted she misses the huge fields provided by U.S. poker players.

“It also hurts that we don’t have access to French and Italian players now,” she said.

Undaunted, Lovgren plans to continue playing live tournaments and will play around nine events at the 2012 WSOP including the $10,000 Main Event.

“I feel it’s about time for me to make a deep run and get a little of revenge,” she said.

“I’m just going to keep playing and it should come soon.”

Ladies Crushing 2012 WSOP

If what’s already happened at the WSOP is any indication, Lovgren could soon find herself at a final table.

Amanda Musumeci, Cherish Andrews and Jackie Glazier are among the notable female players to make final tables this year.

Vanessa Selbst (who is still alive in the $2,500 along with Lovgren) finished fourth in the first tournament of the summer.
