One more bracelet was awarded, the Seniors' final table went late, and the prestigious $10k H.O.R.S.E. closed in on a final table with Phil Hellmuth in contention for his 13th bracelet.
Today in the WSOP 3-Bet we take a look at a certain Canadian joining the WSOP Big One, Daniel Negreanu doing what he does best and our upcoming “All Brit” coverage of the $5k PLO.
3) Haralabos Voulgaris to Play $1 Million WSOP Big One
Chalk one more player up for the WSOP Big One.
Sports better/poker player/podcaster Haralabos Voulgaris will enter the $1 million tournament, according to a story by PTPRPoker.com.
Voulgaris purchased tKeith Hamilton’s seat for the massive tournament, which is set to take place at this year’s WSOP.
It’s a bit complicated because Hamilton actually gave his seat in the $25k Loto-Quebec satellite to friend Carlos Nahas. Nahas then won the seat on Hamilton’s behalf so Voulgaris will now represent Loto-Quebec in the Big One.
Voulgaris has nearly two million in lifetime tournament earnings including two WPT final tables but is more well known for cash games and even starred in several episodes of High Stakes Poker on GSN.
The Canadian told PTPRPoker that one of the main reasons he decided to play the event is the sheer number of casual players set to play.
2) $5k PLO Gets English Flavor
Tomorrow our live updaters are hitting Event 34 $5,000 Pot-Limit with a unique twist.
We’re going to focus all our live coverage efforts on the English players in the field.
That means if Brit poker stars like Sam Trickett, JP Kelly, Liv Boeree, David Ulliott, Chris Moorman, James Dempsey or Neil Channing show up we’ll be on them like the Queen on crumpets.
So far our unique Day 1 coverage has "followed the chips", gone all Isildur1 and focused solely on female poker players but this will be the first time we’ve taken aim at an entire nationality.
The English poker scene seems particularly strong at the moment so it’s the perfect time to highlight some of the players.
No matter what happens it’s sure to be one of the highlight events of the summer. Follow the action live here starting tomorrow at 12 pm.
Lst year Jason Mercier outlasted 507 players to take down $619,573 and his second WSOP bracelet.
1) Daniel Negreanu Rants About "Tough" WSOP
The poker world starts to feel a little weird when it goes too long without some thoughts from Daniel Negreanu.
Negreanu has taken a break from his weekly video rants for most of the WSOP, thanks to his intense schedule, but he found time to post a short video this weekend.
In the video Negreanu talked about the difficulties he’s had at this year’s WSOP, running bad and he even gets in one little dig at Full Tilt Poker. He’s persistent, that Negreanu. Check the video below:
