The WSOP 3-Bet is three streets of poker news value straight from the floor of the WSOP.
Today we bring you news of Kid Poker’s $25,000 discovery, a high-stakes Omaha-8 challenge issued by Brian Hastings plus a heads-up on the Seniors event which starts tomorrow.
As always, any suggestions for the 3-Bet can be left in the comments section.
$25,000 Treat for Daniel Negreanu
We’re all vaguely aware that pro poker players live different lives than the rest of us civilians but every once in a while something happens to make that fact painfully clear.
Daniel Negreanu visited the payout cage at the Rio earlier today to pick up the $5,639 he won for finishing 45th in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo event and as it turns out they’d been holding something for him since 2010.
Two years ago the World Series of Poker revived the Tournament of Champions, an event that had been shelved indefinitely in 2007.
Negreanu finished sixth out of the 27 players invited, winning $25,000. The only problem was, he never picked it up!
Negreanu tweeted, “Went to cash my 45th place finish lady says "about time" and informs me that I never picked up $25k from 2010 TOC! Score! Running good!”
It sort of reminds us of that time we went to Starbucks and they told us we still had enough on our card for a latte AND an apple fritter. Sort of, but not really.
High-Stakes Challenge from Brian Hastings to Mike Matusow
Two nights ago Mike Matusow was commentating on the live stream of the final table of the $5k Omaha Hi-Lo Eight-or-Better that he had busted from earlier in eighth place.
Matusow had a few choice words to say about high-stakes professional Brian Hastings, and his Omaha-8 abilities.
The Mouth called Hastings a “stone idiot” when it came to the four-card split-pot game. Hastings took exception with that characterization.
Hastings, after getting the cliffs on the smack that was talked, issued a challenge via twitter:
Alright plenty of quick responses lol. @themouthmatusow can we play HU O8 soon? Bellagio or Aria, stakes negotiable but not for peanuts.
— Brian Hastings (@brianchastings) June 14, 2012. @themouthmatusow Assuming you come back with the "HU is not FR" argument, we can just play a FR game and crossbook. Soon please!
— Brian Hastings (@brianchastings) June 14, 2012We have a feeling that “not for peanuts” in Brian Hastings’ world is astronomical.
If this match goes down we’ll be doing our best to get ourselves ringside for the action.
AARP Convention Seniors Event Begins at 10am
Tomorrow morning the halls of the Rio will be a dangerous place for anyone not riding a Rascal.
Hordes of suspender-wearing, Cadillac driving seniors will descend on the WSOP to battle it out in the $1,000 Seniors Championship.
And to accommodate the Seniors, the WSOP has adopted an early-bird start of 10am.
One old man was heard to say, "10am? What are we stoned teenagers? A man's game begins at dawn."
Conversations are expected to revolve around how things were better in the good old days, and Matlock.
If you can’t make it to the Rio tomorrow to see it in person just watch the video below starting at about 0:32 to see what it’ll be like.
