Read on for the rundown on Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth making going deep in the $5k Stud Hi-Low event, an appearance by former Full Tilter Erick Lindgren plus drastic measures to combat alcohol’s after effects.

Any suggestions for a future WSOP 3-Bet can be left in the comments section.

Phils Fall Short in $5k Stud Hi-Low

For some reason a lot of successful poker players are named Phil and the two biggest, Ivey and Hellmuth, made a run on Day 3 of the $5k Stud Hi-Low event.

It should come as no surprise, given their track records.

Hellmuth dominated at the WSOP last year with three big runner-up finishes in non-Hold'em events totaling more than $1.5 million.

Phil Ivey didn't even play last year's WSOP, but he won a bracelet in 2010 and two in 2009, as well as finishing 7th in the Main Event for $1.4 million.

But today neither Phil could hold it together long enough to add another bracelet to their record. Hellmuth busted in 15th while Ivey made it to 7th before going broke.

Erick Lindgren
Erick Lindgren could probably use $445k.

At time of publishing Todd Brunson and Adam Friedman were playing heads-up for the bracelet.

Erick Lindgren Plays $10k PLH, Still Owes

It came to light a few months ago that former Team Full Tilt member Erick Lindgren owed six figures in fantasy football debts and, if Two Plus Two is any indication, the debts are still outstanding.

Perhaps in an effort to satisfy those obligations, and/or support his wife and child, Lindgren was playing in the $10k Pot-Limit Hold’em championship today and has been spotted in the high-limit cash games at the Rio.

Debts aside, Lindgren is a made man at the WSOP with one bracelet and a long list of big scores.

He won the $5k Mixed Limit Hold’em/No-Limit Hold’em in 2008 and finished third in the $50k HORSE event the same year.

Lindgren has cashed three times post-Black Friday, the biggest of which by far being his 43rd place finish in last year’s Main Event, worth $196,174.

Lindgren made it through to Day 2 in his tournament today. First place is $445,899.

The Cure for the WSOP Hangover

Besides poker tournaments there’s one thing you can count on every year at the WSOP: Hangovers.

Enter, Hangover Heaven.

With a location right here in Las Vegas Hangover Heaven is offering a special WSOP package for poker players who get carried away the night before a big tournament.

With a free shuttle servicing the Rio, Hangover Heaven will hook you up to an IV and get you in shape to make sure your hangover doesn’t ruin your chances at WSOP glory.

From their site:

We have a shuttle that can come pick you up and drop you back off.  We have a special WSOP package that is one bag of IV fluids, IV vitamins, and IV glutathione.  Glutathione is an anti-oxidant that also supports mental function. I have been using it the last few weeks with clients and have noticed a significant difference. The WSOP package is priced at $99.

If their hangover cure is legit we're pretty sure they're going to make a million dollars.
