Today in the WSOP 3-Bet we bring you Will the Thrill getting confused about the rules of re-entry tournament, Russ Hamilton watching over the WSOP tournament floor and a $150 prop bet that saw a man make like a worm on a break from the action this afternoon.
Keep reading for three streets of WSOP value.
Will Failla Enters Same Tournament Twice
Today was the second flight of Event 9, $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry, but as it turns out not everyone was familiar with the rules of a re-entry tournament.
1,696 players bought in on Day 1A and, according to re-entry rules, anyone who busted would be eligible to re-enter on Day 1B.
Will “The Thrill” Failla played on Day 1B, busted, and was then allowed to re-buy. He was given a new stack and took his seat before WSOP staff became aware of the mistake and took him out of the event, refunding his buy-in.
Failla tweeted:
I want to apologize to the poker Community. I thought u could rebuy in the first 4 levels in today's event. I was extremely embarrassed!
— Will Failla (@WILLFAILLA) June 4, 2012According to WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky 81 people in total attempted to re-buy after busting on Day 1B. Three of them slipped through and were mistakenly given stacks.
One of them busted and the other two, including Failla, were disqualified and refunded their buy-ins.
Marco Traniello Should Protect His Cards
Allen Cunningham was playing in the $5k Seven-Card Stud event this evening and was sitting across the table from his former fellow Full Tilter Marco Traniello.
Traniello was busy playing poker, calmly unaware of the irony provided by the banner hanging behind him.
Cunningham tweeted “Still doing well in stud. And so is Marco even with that guy looking at his cards”.
In a poll held by WickedChopsPoker last month 37.25 percent of readers polled thought Russ Hamilton’s banner should be removed from the WSOP room, while 30.23 percent thought Chris Ferguson’s picture should be done away with.
But, since WCP’s readers don’t make the decisions at the WSOP, no banners were removed.
Lucky for everyone it’s just a big piece of fabric and not the actual Russ Hamilton.
Would You Be the WSOP Worm for $150?
Earlier today during a break from Day 1B of the $1,500 No-Limit Re-Entry event David Inselberg bet a rather corpulent man $150 to get down on the ground and do the worm.
What followed looked less like a worm and more like a dignity fire-sale.
Luckily for us we were in attendance live. We were interviewing Andy Frankenberger for a story when this worm-related prop bet developed.
Check out the video right here, courtesy of David Inselberg.
After seven years at the World Series of Poker we can tell you one thing, this isn't even close to the most degrading prop bet we've seen.
