Buchanan, a friend of 2012 SCOOP killer Shaun Deeb and a highly regarded online player in his own right, outlasted a field of 82 earlier this evening for his first SCOOP win and $44,145.

The long-time pro from Vancouver, BC, adds his first SCOOP title to an impressive poker resume that already includes a WPT title, a WCOOP title, a runner-up finish in the WSOP $10k HORSE and $4.6 million in career live earnings.

Knocks Off Stacked Field

As with all of the smaller-field mixed–game events in the SCOOP, Buchanan had to top a power-packed field to earn the victory.

PokerStars Team Pros George Danzer, George Lind, Martin Staszko and Jose "Nacho" Barbero all were on the player list as was Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, who managed to make it to 14th place but just shy of the money.

Pros Bryn Kenney and Steven "stevie444" Chidwick also came close but busted shy of the final table in 13th and 10th place respectively.

Making the final table with Buchanan but dropping out in fifth place was another well-respected pro in Scott “BigRiskky” Clements.

In what's now extremely unsurprising to report, 2012 SCOOP superstar Shaun Deeb again went deep in a Stud-based tournament.

What is surprising, however, is that this time Deeb didn’t actually go on to win the event.

He did make it down to the final two tables in Event 28-M, Razz, but as the short-stack couldn't make much happen and left in 16th place.

The run did earn Deeb another $1,062.60 to bring his total take so far in the 2012 SCOOP to over $176,000.

It also earned him another 20 points on the SCOOP leaderboard and helped increase his lead over second-place joacowalter.

Australian online crusher James “Andy McLEOD” Obst also ran deep but busted right after Deeb in 15th place.

Final Results for Event 25-M, $215 Razz:

1st: Jamie_KK (United Kingdom) -- $17,556 2nd: redeste (Russia) -- $12,936 3rd: itsmeweer (Netherlands) -- $9,480.24 4th: üä-qaypö.wsx (Germany) -- $6,930 5th: bestofiraq (United Kingdom) -- $4,620 6th: RblBA (Russia) -- $3,234 7th: 1diego_35 (United Kingdom) -- $2,310 8th: brsariego (Spain) -- $1,848
