Today on the 3-Bet we’re giving you an inside look at the biggest Hollywood home games, big names at the Manila Millions and Andrew Feldman taking a beat so bad it made him break down on TV.
An Inside Look at Hollywood Home Games
It’s been public knowledge for years that celebs such as Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio played in a huge Hollywood home game but Mark Ebner blew the lid off the operation in a piece on Hollywood Interrupted this week.
The piece was titled “Dead Money: Deep Inside the Biggest Celebrity Poker Home Games in Hollywood” and featured interviews with actor Kevin Pollak as well as poker player’s Daniel Negreanu and Mike Sexton.
A lot of the article is based around the alleged Ponzi scheme Brad Ruderman ran while losing millions to celebs like Maguire but we found the surrounding information just as interesting.
It’s a beast of an article but here are some of the highlights:
The game is usually referred to as Tobey’s game because he is the most frequent participant. Apparently actor Hank Azaria showed up to one of the games with $5,000 cash, not realizing they accepted personal checks. It’s usually a $100,000 buy-in with $1,000/$2,000 blinds James Woods once pulled a Rounders and guessed everyone’s hand at a casino in Shreveport. Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire and Director Nick Cassavetes are all allegedly very good. Johnny Carson used to run the Hollywood big game with Chevy Chase and Steve Martin frequently on hand.Check out the insightful piece on Mark Ebner’s website here.
Allan Le Takes Manila Millions
With EPT Berlin and WPT Seminole in full swing it would have been easy to forget about the APT’s Manila Millions.
There’s a good chance Allan Le won’t be forgetting any time soon, however, as he emerged from a star-studded field that included Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan and Joe Hachem to take down a $1.7 million first place prize.
The APT Manila Millions, with its $128k buy-in, was the richest tournament in Asian poker history.
A total of 30 players paid the massive buy-in to create a $3.8 million prizepool with five players getting paid.
Surprisingly the big name pros were shut out as none of them made it into the money.
Phil Ivey made it the farthest, finishing in 10th place, with ace-ten versus ace-queen.
Here are the complete final table payouts:
1. Allan Le - $1.7 million 2. Devan Tang - $1.05 million 3. Sun Sheng - $632,000 4. Richard Yong - $463,500 5. Keith Gipson - $380,000

A Beat Sick Enough to Make a Grown Man Cry
Poker can be a cruel game but it’s pretty rare to see someone actually cry, especially on TV.
Well it happened during the heated heads-up match of the PartyPoker Premier League last fall between Andy Frankenberger and Andrew Feldman. We didn’t realize one of the players actually cried until we saw the episode air earlier this week.
In the final hand of the tournament Feldman had Frankenberger crushed with K♥ Q♣ over K♦ T♠. Feldman pleaded with the dealer to give him a queen.
As it turned out the dealer obliged, but not in the way Feldman was likely thinking.
