Daily 3-Bet: Kid Poker Shouts, Pauly Out, Being Holden

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we have a brand new anti-Annie Duke rant by Daniel Negreanu, the infamous Dr. Pauly signing off on Tao of Poker and an Irish film crew tackling an English poker star.

1) Negreanu Rants, Mostly About Annie Duke

Daniel Negreanu’s Weekly Rant hit the Web one day early this week and, big surprise, it’s an unmitigated assault on Annie Duke.

By any stretch of the imagination Negreanu has already spent too much time on someone of whom he thinks so little.

In today’s rant he lists poker’s most prominent females, but reserves a special slot for his arch-nemesis.

2) Dr. Pauly Says Goodbye

Paul “Dr. Pauly” McGuire has been a cornerstone of the poker blogging world for years and has managed to capture humanity, or lack thereof, in the poker world like few others.

McGuire announced today that his post “A Letter to Ndugu” on Tao of Poker will be the blog’s last.

Author of Lost Vegas and Jack Tripper Stole My Dog, McGuire pulls zero punches in his goodbye post. Years of life on the road, living the lifestyle that made his blog famous, have taken their toll.

He writes:

For the last few years, I've felt like a fraud without a sincere message. I hate repeating myself and my schtick is nothing more than a derivative of something I already said much better years before.

I'm supposed to be imparting pearls of wisdom to you, but instead I've done nothing but brag about what it is like dabbling in the Dionysian lifestyle (smoking too much grass and popping waaaaay too many pills), while promoting the genius of degenerate gambling. I was a peddler of broken dreams -- a postmodern Pusherman -- shoving online poker down the throats of whomever wandered into this corner of the web. I should've been executed five years ago by a firing squad for crimes against humanity.

We're going to stick with our schtick, repetitive or not, but we’re sad to see the end of Tao of Poker.

3) Irish Film Crew Features Sam Holden’s WSOP Run

Producers of the Irish reality-television show Fade Street are focusing on the 2011 WSOP Main Event in a documentary that will air on sports channels internationally.

Being Sam Holden is a 26-minute look at 22-year-old Sam Holden who returned to Las Vegas last November for a shot at becoming the world champion of poker.

Holden eventually finished ninth, earning over $780,000 and secured a sponsorship deal with 888Poker.

The short film also includes Irish November Niner Eoghan O’Dea, and his father Donnacha who made the Main Event final table in 1983 and 1991.

From the Irish Film and Television Network.
