Running May 6-20, the 2012 SCOOP will feature 40 events each with three buy-in levels - low, medium and high.
The capper of the entire series will be a No-Limit Hold’em Main Event on May 20 with buy-ins of $109, $1,050 and $10,300 and guarantees of $1 million, $1.5 million and $2.5 million respectively.
EPT Packages and $100,000 in Leaderboard Prizes
This year the SCOOP will also feature separate ‘Player of the Series’ Leaderboards for each buy-in level with winners getting a trophy and a PCA 2013 package. The overall Leaderboard winner will win a trophy plus an EPT Grand Final package.
Plenty of tickets to future PokerStars online series like the MicroMillions and the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) will also be doled out with more than $100,000 in tournament and ticket prizes awarded to Leaderboard players.
Last year's SCOOP Player of the Series, Team Online pro Anders "Donald" Berg, has high hopes for a repeat of his 23-cash, one-win performance:
“SCOOP is always one of the highlights of the online poker calendar," Berg said, "and I’ll be aiming to defend my Player of the Series title by playing as many events as possible.
"The tournament structures are excellent, the range of games unrivalled – it’s going to be an epic tournament series for me and many other players in May.”
27 Events Accessible by Steps Tickets
The 2012 SCOOP will offer events in Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Draw, HORSE, 8-Game, Badugi, Razz and Triple Draw plus a wide variety of tournament formats including freezeouts, rebuys, shootouts, heads-up and 2X Chance tourneys.
All told 27 different SCOOP events will be open via PokerStars Steps 1-6 tickets (starting as low as $7.50) making it more accessible for players to satellite into events.
Last year's SCOOP main event (high buy-in) winner, Finnish pro Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro, took home over $500k.
