Galfond has been hot since returning from a nearly month-long break from online poker but he kicked his game into another gear on PokerStars last night.
The Maryland-native recorded 3,593 hands of $100/$200 Pot-Limit Omaha in a seven-hour period last night and absolutely crushed his opposition.
Galfond began his evening with a wild 6-Max session against Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen, Rafi Amit and Isildur1 where he won $97k.
From there Galfond took on Isildur1 heads-up and wrecked the young Swede for $180k.
He moved on to another 6-Max table that swapped Jeans89 for ChaoRen160 and added $253k in profit.
Add in a few more huge sessions and Galfond finished his night up $643k, one of his biggest wins of the year and of his entire online career.
You might recall that Galfond went on a devastating $660k downswing in January that forced him to take an extended break from online poker. That downswing is now just a memory and he’s suddenly up over $300k on the year.
Isildur1 Goes on a Catastrophic $800k Downswing
Viktor Blom played a signature “Isildur1” session last night that saw him go up by nearly $700k and then lose all of it plus more.
Blom was a man possessed as he played 4,814 hands in an 11-hour period. Blom started his campaign off right with a string of consecutive wins that saw him quickly rocket up to $300k in profit.
The Swedish pro continued to gain momentum as he passed $500k in profit and he finally peaked at just under $700k on the day.
Blom hit a wall at the same Jeans89, Rafi Amit and Phil Galfond 6-Max table and lost an astonishing $313k at that table alone.
Things went from bad to worse for Blom as he then decided to take on Galfond heads-up.
By the time the smoke had cleared Blom had seen his $800k profit evaporate into thin air and he closed out the night with $137k in losses.
A tough pill to swallow but thanks to his earlier wins Blom is still up over $500k in the last seven days.
Some of the notable winners last night included 0Human0 (+$158k), pablo9 x (+$99k), Fake Love888 (+$91k) and Axelf82 (+$51k).
On the losing side were Rafi Amit (-$294k), Sauce123 (-$220k), <xllllll>< (-$183k) and takechip (-$80k).
