The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a Get Out of Jail Free card for any poker fan looking to traverse the mid-afternoon poker news world.
You can always make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Borgata actually responding to Phil Ivey’s countersuit, Jason Mercier looking good on home turf and a wicked poker party in Toronto.
1) Borgata Casino Responds to Ivey
Late last month Phil Ivey filed a countersuit against Borgata after the casino originally tried to sue him for $9.6 million that he won gambling at the property.
Now the casino has responded to the suit and is actually admitting to destroying the potentially defective cards that were used when Ivey made his big score at the casino.
Borgata maintains the cards were destroyed as part of the regular course of business, prior to any knowledge of the scheme.
The team of lawyers that represent Ivey are alleging the casino purposely destroyed the evidence.
Of course Phil Ivey already lost a massive $12.4m case against Crockford’s last fall that involved defective cards. He’s already planning on filing an appeal.
2) Mercier, Laak Highlight SHRPO $25k Final Table
The SHRPO Big 4 is an intriguing new concept in poker and Florida’s native son Jason Mercier might just take down the big $25k High Roller Crown.
A final table was reached late last night and it’s safe to say it’s a star-studded one. It includes:
Seat 1: Jason Mercier – 820,000 Seat 2: David “Doc” Sands – 1,155,000 Seat 3: Ankush Mandavia – 1,072,000 Seat 4: Phil Laak – 1,255,000 Seat 5: Ian O’Hara – 1,305,000 Seat 6: Ashwin Sarin – 952,000 Seat 7: David Peters – 424,000 Seat 8: Sean Winter – 365,000 Seat 9: Barry Hutter – 951,000
You can watch a stream of the event here starting at 2 p.m. local time. It should be a good one.
In fact all four of the major SHRPO events that are going on right now are being streamed.
3) Negreanu, Kessel, Benger Party at PokerStars VIP in Toronto
It may not have had Daniel Negreanu rapping (that we know of) but PokerStars latest VIP party in Toronto looked pretty darn swank.
PokerStars released a video of the event today and it’s safe to say poker fans in TO got a ton of drinks, food and entertainment.
We spotted a bunch of notables including Griffin Benger, Phil Kessel, Joe Stapleton, James Hartigan and of course Negreanu.
Check out the party below and be sure to make it out next time:
