Online pioneer PokerStars is once again changing the way that poker players approach big tournaments over the weekend.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, the site will introduce the $530 buy-in “Weekender.” The big difference is that it’s a two-day tournament.

Because the Weekender is split over two days, the first of which only runs for six hours, it should be much easier for recreational players to schedule the tournament into their weekend.

Two-day tournaments are nothing new in the online poker world and you’ll find them frequently on the WCOOP schedule.

A two-day tournament that runs every weekend is new, however, and should be enticing to players who are trying to avoid playing 10+ hours on a single day.

The Weekender is an 8-Max No-Limit Hold’em event that will begin with a $100,000 guarantee but that’s expected to increase if players show interest in the event.

Satellites for the tournament have already begun on PokerStars and you can qualify for under $10.

Twitch poker streamer Jamie “PokerStaples” Staples is one of the first players to buy into the tournament so you’ll actually be able to watch how it all plays out for the first time on Aug. 15.
