Andy Hwang, who entered the final table as the chip leader, couldn’t quite close out the event and ended up finishing in second place for $468,105.
Meanwhile Darren Elias was denied his third WPT victory in 12 months when he finished third for $303,593.
Andy Hwang Busts Mina Greco in Fifth
The WPT Choctaw final table started slowly and there were nearly 100 hands played before Alex Lynsky finally busted sixth place.
Mina Greco, who had a shot at becoming the first female player to win a WPT event, was the next player to bust when she ran into Andy Hwang’s pocket kings.
Former PCA $25k High Roller winner Jake Schindler ended up busting in fourth place for $224k.
Hwang actually entered heads-up play with a nearly 2-1 chip advantage but Brin pulled even after 29 hands.
In the final hand Brin busted Hwang with K-8 over Q-J. The board bricked and that was enough to crown a new WPT champ.
With WPT Choctaw in the books the tour’s next stop will be in sunny LA for the long-running Legends of Poker series at the Bicycle Casino.
