In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Annie Duke teaching us how to make decisions, the bizarre behaviour of high rollers and a very memorable Tom Dwan song.
1) Make Decisions Like Annie Duke
Since leaving the poker world Annie Duke has transitioned into a public speaking career.
Many of her seminars involve good decision-making, which can be a bit tough to stomach for anyone who was involved in the Epic Poker League collapse.
Duke recently spoke at the 2015 EnergySMART conference in a presentation called "How to Make Decisions Like a World Championship Poker Player".

It’s actually not a bad talk and Duke goes into detail about why people don’t learn from playing poker despite the game’s built-in super-fast feedback loop (you know if you made the right decision within seconds).
We’re still waiting for an in-depth analysis of what went wrong at Epic Poker though. We want to see that conference. Duke’s brother Howard Lederer could co-headline the seminar with his thoughts on Full Tilt Poker.
2) High Roller Requests Range from Bizarre to Obscene
This week the Associated Press got hold of a transcript from a recent hearing where former Mohegan Sun pitboss Maria DeGiacomo was fired for allegedly colluding with a high roller by allowing late bets in blackjack.
DeGiacomo’s defence is that hotel staff are frequently encouraged to treat super high rollers differently to keep them coming back and late bets are well within that treatment.
Interestingly Glen Costales, a pit manager at Mohegan Sun, spoke at the hearing and listed some of the ways the rules have been bent for so-called whales at the casino.
-One high roller requested a fridge of bananas so he could squeeze and throw them as he gambled.
-Another player was permitted to urinate on a wall in the casino.
-Numerous whales were allowed to throw chairs and scream at dealers.
So if you don’t want to be kicked out of a casino just make sure you are really, really rich like poker's all-time greatest whales!
3) Well, I Won’t Back [Tom] Dwan
Sometimes poker forums devolve into an endless parade of insults and negativity. On the other hand sometimes they help generate absolute gems of poker content.
Yesterday TwoPlusTwo user veract released the funniest poker video we’ve seen in awhile. The video is by user jose luis Romero.
Basically it’s Dan “Jungleman12” Cates as Tom Petty singing a version of Won’t Back Down that swaps down with Dwan. The joke being that Dwan allegedly owes Cates a lot of money for the years-old durrrr Challenge. It's weird. It’s funny. And it has to be watched.
